BLANCHE THEBOM TO MC DEBUTS OF YOUNG VOCAL TALENTS IN PONSELLE "WINNERS SHOWCASE" CONCERT

Laureates in the 5th Annual Rosa Ponselle "ALL MARYLANDERS'" Competition, who are to be joined by their Ponselle International Competition counterparts and a l6-year old, Blanche Thebom protégé of her Opera Arts Training Program in San Francisco, shall perform at Goucher College's Kraushaar Theater on Saturday, March l6 at 8:00 P.M., in a performance which is to be one of the centerpieces of the 6th Annual Rosa Ponselle "ALL MARYLANDERS'" Competition.

The young Maryland and International Laureates include:

Gold, Silver and Bronze Medalists, Samantha McElhaney, Mary Gosˇer and Jason Knight.
Silver Rose Awardees, Stephen Carr, Angela Fout, Erin Frisby, An'draea Keene, Benjamin Warschawski and Aubree Weiley.
Honorable Mention Awardees, Master Omar Dakheel and the Misses Carlie Kidd, Roni Mosco and Christine Reinhardt.
International Competition Winners, Karen Slack, Margarita Gomez, Michael Galanter and special guest, Mallika Keister (a protégé of celebrated American Mezzo Soprano, Blanche Thebom in her 7th Annual Opera Arts Training Program) shall also appear in the program.

Accompanist and prize-award piano artist for the program shall be William Lewis of New York. Musical preparation for the Concert is by Maestro Igor Chichagov, renowned operatic vocal coach and conductor.

Special guests at the Concert shall be the adjudicators of the "ALL MARYLANDERS'" Competition, William Warfield, Mary Jane Phillips-Matz and Linda Patterson-Weston.

The Annual Rosa Ponselle Eastertime Competition program, which shall take place at Goucher College's Kraushaar Theater on March l5, l6 and l7, is not open to the public. However, the two featured events which may be attended at no charge are the Saturday, March l6 "Showcase" Concert, and a lecture with slides and recorded music on the Life and Career of Rosa Ponselle by famed Verdian scholar, biographer and lecturer, Mary Jane Phillips-Matz, who is currently writing a biography on Rosa Ponselle. The lecture is to take place in the Kraushaar Theater from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M., on Monday, March l8.

The Rosa Ponselle "ALL MARYLANDERS'" Competition is presented by the Rosa Ponselle Charitable Foundation, Inc., established in l982 with funds from the estate of the legendary Metropolitan Opera, dramatic soprano, who is considered by many to have been the greatest singer born and trained entirely in the United States.
