On the occasion of the Rosa Ponselle Centenary and anniversary of her Metropolitan Opera debut of November 15, 1918, radio personality of WQXR's Vocal Scene, George Jellinek, will moderate a panelists' discussion on the legendary dramatic soprano's contribution to our American operatic heritage.
The audio visual program, which will cover Ponselle's career from her debut in LA FORZA DEL DESTINO to her last publicly acclaimed role as Carmen, will be presented at 2 P.M. at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall on Saturday, November 15, 1997, and will feature NEW YORK magazine's Peter G. Davis; Opera News' John W. Freeman; Pulitzer Prize awardee of The Washington Post, Tim Page; London music critic, author and radio personality, John Steane and specialist in the recording transfers of our operatic greats to CDs, Ward Marston.
